Research Priorities & Collaboration

"This research project titled “A Machine Learning Model for Cancer Detection and Reduction in the African American Community”, aims to use machine learning (ML) algorithms to address health disparities in the African American population. The effect that environmental factors have in cancer development will be explored.  By researching the factors that contribute to cancer and determining what agents can prevent cancer, this project will address a critical need in the African American community and thus help reduce cancer rates. This project will also train African American students in the latest ML technology and therefore produce a technologically proficient and diverse workforce."  -- SU 2023
