Research Priorities & Collaboration

"Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) is a comprehensive historically black public institution of higher education that strives to improve the livelihood of Texans and beyond through various research, educational programs and outreaches that tackle chronic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. With this commitment, PVAMU is increasingly pursuing innovative research through the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to address health disparities among underserved populations to promote health equity. Prairie View A&M University plans to strengthen AI research capacities and improve and update existing AI courses to enhance the training of faculty, students and postdocs to increase their knowledge, skills and competencies in AI applications in health equity research to advance the understanding of health disparities among racial/ethnic minorities and minimize their impact. This also fulfils the goal to significantly increase the representation of underrepresented researchers, scientists, and practitioners by increasing diverse, equitable, and inclusive AI in Health Equity workforce at PVAMU and the nation as a whole."  -- PVAMU 2023
