AIM-AHEAD Data Bridge from MedStar Health

Opioid Use and Misuse

This dataset is built for opioid use/abuse and related common comorbidities(Back/Neck pain, mental health disorder, cancer, etc.). There are three tables of year 2017, 2018 and 2019, and to be eligible, patients must be at least 18, and have at least one outpatient encounter in the year as well as the previous year. Each table is one patient per row, and contains variables such as demographics, comorbidities, opioid abuse, and date columns indicating the latest use and first use time of opioid, if applicable. The opioid use cases were obtained from the Order table in MedStar EHR, and there could be repeated patients in different tables if they have outpatient visits in consecutive years. The comorbidities are interpreted as ICD9/ICD10 Codes.
